This series is designed to be an exploration and investigation into the mature work of French master, Henri Matisse. In the traumatic early years of WWI, Matisse left Paris and moved to the South of France. This light flooded region of the world became a source of artistic inspiration that propelled Matisse’s art into novel directions even during periods of worldwide strife and personal trauma. As we begin to process our own experiences of 2020, this series is designed to be a celebration of the resiliency of the human spirit and the power of art to heal.
