We will begin our tour by visiting the collections and homes of some of the most influential families to live in Pittsburgh during the Gilded Age. Annalee Andres will lead a tour through Carnegie Museum of Art. We will also tour the fabulous Phipps Conservatory and Botanical gardens built in 1893 inspired by the Chicago World Fair. Our day will end at the Frick Family mansion.
Friday, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob
We will take a private coach an hour and a half outside of the city of Pittsburgh to tour Frank Lloyd’s Wright’s greatest architectural masterpiece Fallingwater. We will tour the grounds and house, then have lunch in nearby Ohiopile, and head over to Wright’ middle class Usonion home, Kentuck Knob, and compare and contrast the two structures.
Saturday, Pittsburgh City bus tour, The Warhol Museum, and The Mattress Factory
On Saturday we will enjoy a bus tour of the city and then visit the contemporary art museums of Pittsburgh beginning with The Warhol museum and then the avant garde collection at The Mattress Factory.
The cost of the tour is $695 per person with includes museum entrance fees, tours, and bus fare. This price does not include hotel, travel expenses, or food. I have organized a group rate at The Omni William Penn Hotel and Resort located at 530 William Penn Pl for a group rate of $199 per night.
